Job summary

Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead all HR functions for the hotel, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, payroll oversight, training, and compliance.

The role partners with the General Manager and leadership team to foster a service-oriented culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive employee engagement, retention, and operational excellence across the property.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years as Director of Human Resources in luxury, high-volume hotel.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Admin, Hospitality Management, or related field.
• HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHP) preferred; HRIS & payroll experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and benefits.
• Oversee payroll, leave administration, workers’ comp and safety programs.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
• Partner with hotel leadership to drive service culture and retention.
• Manage training, performance management and engagement initiatives.
• Maintain confidential employee records and HR audits.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field
