Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee daily operations of the engineering department at one of its NYC properties. The role requires supervising staff, managing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have HVAC, electrical and boiler operation experience, a supervisory background in hotels, and the ability to coordinate with ownership, corporate leadership, and contractors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of supervisory or lead mechanic experience in a hotel or related field
• Stationary engineer’s license if required by local code
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work long hours and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

• Provide the highest quality of service to guests at all times
• Deal promptly with guest complaints and needs
• Maintain and inspect safety procedures and emergency equipment
• Manage preventive maintenance program for back-of-house and mechanical systems
• Supervise and train Engineering staff in customer service and SOPs
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Highgate standards
• Lead the Building Manager function in owner/management communications
