Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to drive operational excellence across a premier hotel and expansive conference center in Odessa, TX. This hands-on leadership role oversees maintenance, energy management, and safety programs while guiding a skilled engineering team to deliver high-quality service for executive clientele.

You will coordinate repairs, mentor staff, ensure compliance with codes, and partner with departments to maintain peak property performance.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing building maintenance and operations for hotels or large commercial properties.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including entering technical data and monitoring schedules.
• Knowledge of building codes and compliance standards.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and manage or assist with technical deadlines.
• Basic skills in electrical work, plumbing, and drywall repair.
• Hands‑on experience with the use of common hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the maintenance and operation of all hotel systems and structures.
• Oversee the completion of repairs, renovations, and routine maintenance across guest rooms, event spaces, restaurants, and back-of-house areas.
• Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and coaching engineering staff.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance with purchasing policies, budgets, and schedules.
• Maintain and improve preventive maintenance and energy management programs.
• Serve as a technical resource for other departments, providing training on equipment safety and efficiency.
• Report regularly to leadership on the condition and needs of the hotel’s infrastructure.
• Represent the hotel professionally at community and industry events.
