Job summary

Pellissippi State Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor - Hospitality within the College of Business. The role focuses on quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment in classrooms and laboratories.

The candidate will plan and teach classes, supervise student activities, evaluate progress, and manage administrative duties in accordance with the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. Term-by-term openings may occur, with postings closing yearly on January 31.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college with 18 graduate hours in hospitality, travel, tourism, event planning, hotel or restaurant management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.
• Supervise the study and learning activities of students assigned.
• Submit requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher.
• Evaluate the academic progress of students.
• Demonstrate knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
• Submit course grades and perform other administrative duties as required.
• Schedule two office hours; if extenuating circumstances prevent scheduling, submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor; office hours are not paid during the summer session.
