Job summary

Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL is seeking a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (APRN) for night coverage. The role focuses on comprehensive inpatient care in collaboration with physicians and an interdisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and continuity of care during hospitalization.

The position requires an MSN or DNP, Illinois RN/APRN licensure, NP certification, and current BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
• Current Illinois RN and APRN licensure.
• National NP certification in an applicable specialty.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions using evidence-based clinical judgment.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies and imaging.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and prescribe medications within Illinois law and collaborative agreements.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, pharmacists, case management, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation.
• Support quality improvement initiatives while complying with hospital policies and regulations.

What You'll Do

As a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner, you'll provide comprehensive inpatient care while working collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations
• Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions using evidence-based clinical judgment
• Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other tests
• Developing individualized treatment plans and prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with Illinois law and collaborative practice agreements
• Educating patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning
• Collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, pharmacists, case management, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate exceptional patient care
• Maintaining accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Supporting quality improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards

What We're Looking For

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure
• National Nurse Practitioner certification in an applicable specialty
• Current BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• ACLS certification (or ability to obtain if required)
• Current DEA registration and Illinois controlled substance license
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced inpatient environment
