Job summary

AMI Expeditionary Healthcare is seeking a Hospitalist Physician to provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for veterans at the Fargo VA Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

As a Hospitalist Physician, you will evaluate, treat, and manage our veteran population throughout their inpatient stay while working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, specialists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.

  • Admit, evaluate, and manage hospitalized patients throughout their inpatient stay, including comprehensive histories and physicals, diagnosis and treatment of acute conditions, medication management, and appropriate patient placement.
  • Provide acute and critical care, including assessment and stabilization of emergent conditions, participation in code and rapid response teams, perioperative medical management, and coordination of specialty consultations.
  • Develop and coordinate comprehensive care and discharge plans in collaboration with physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, including patient education, follow-up care, and advanced care planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation and coding while participating in quality improvement, QA/QI activities, committee meetings, and other hospital initiatives.
Schedule:
  • VA HCS Hospitalist Services are 24/7.
  • There are two 12-hour shift periods (7AM - 7PM/7PM - 7AM)
  • Must be available to be scheduled to work during all hours of operation of the facility
Required Qualifications:
  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory
    • North Dakota medical license preferred, but not required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Current National Provider Identifier (NPI), or ability to obtain one
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to effectively manage complex hospitalized patients
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process
