Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Telecommunications Operator to provide courteous, efficient communications for all hospital stakeholders. The role routes calls, handles complaints, and maintains orderly internal communications, including during emergencies. This PRN weekend position generally does not include benefits.

Responsibilities include routing calls, relaying messages, and reporting system malfunctions to ensure timely repairs, while staying professional and helpful to all callers.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills and verbal communication.
  • Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively in writing.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume call environment.

Responsibilities

  • Answers all incoming calls to the facility with courtesy and efficiency.
  • Provides courteous and efficient communication within the hospital and information about the Network to the customer.
  • Takes ownership of a complaint and facilitates immediate service recovery.
  • Relays incoming outgoing and interoffice telephone calls in a timely professional manner.
  • Maintains an orderly flow of internal communications within the hospital and meets any crisis which may arise.
  • Takes messages and relays them when necessary.
  • Recording and reporting communication system malfunctions to ensure timely repair.
  • Responds to alarms located in the service area.
  • Knows staff functions to direct callers promptly and knowledgeably.
