Job summary

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups.
• Must pass Security Defensive Tactics Training.
• Must pass taser and pepper gel training.
• Ability to interact with people at all levels to communicate information clearly.
• If driving a company vehicle must be eligible under hospital insurance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conducts continuous random patrols, utilizing the patrol vehicle, bicycle, or foot patrol.
• Responds to all calls from the public, hospital staff, and the security dispatcher.
• Monitors and pages fire codes on the fire monitor system in security dispatch.
• Responds to hospital emergency overhead pages as determined by security dispatch.
• Physical management of patients going through crisis.
• Escorts patients to In Patient Mental Health or other areas of the facility as requested.
• Monitors alarms on S&D, generator, HVAC, Medical Air Gases panels; takes action as needed.
• Answers calls for assistance on the security emergency line and creates maintenance work orders.
• Enters information from maintenance logs into the TMS application.
• Monitors CCTV and dispatches security officers as required.
• Assists with helicopter flight operations; secures doors as directed.
• Notifies management for major incidents and enforces parking policy.
• Escorts employees to and from vehicles; responds to panic alarms throughout facility.
• Armed staff respond to active shooter or other lethal threat and neutralize when possible.
• Writes reports and follows department policies; demonstrates Windows competency.
• Assist with morgue operations and participate in training opportunities as offered.
