MyMichigan Health is seeking a Security Officer to perform routine patrols, respond to calls, monitor alarms, and provide security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors across the campus.

The role requires strong situational awareness and the ability to handle incidents calmly in a hospital setting. Training in security tactics, emergency response, and safety protocols is provided, with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups.
• Must pass Security Defensive Tactics Training.
• Must pass taser and pepper gel training.
• Ability to interact with people at all levels to communicate information clearly.
• If driving a company vehicle must be eligible under hospital insurance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conducts continuous patrols using patrol vehicle, bicycle, or foot.
• Responds to all calls from the public, hospital staff, and security dispatcher.
• Monitors and pages fire codes from the fire monitor system.
• Responds to hospital emergency overhead pages.
• Physically manages patients in crisis.
• Escorts patients to designated areas as requested by staff.
• Enforces parking policy and secures facility access as directed.
• Responds to panic alarms and active shooter threats if needed.
