Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Security Officer I to help ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. The role involves patrolling the hospital, responding to calls, mentoring staff, and possibly serving as charge officer in a 24/7 setting.

Flexibility for off-shifts and potential SPO commissions may be required. Primary duties include supervising shifts, training new associates, securing valuables, patrolling facilities, and responding to emergencies and codes.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assists supervisor with daily shift supervision and monitors duties.
• Acts as a resource or mentor to security staff.
• Conducts in-service training.
• Assumes charge role as needed.
• Collects and secures patient valuables and lost-and-found items.
• Conducts designated security patrols throughout the facility.
• Reports safety, security, and law violations.
