Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to protect patients, staff and visitors in a 24/7 hospital environment. You will patrol facilities, respond to emergencies, monitor access points, and document incidents while upholding safety protocols.

The role requires strong communication, de-escalation skills and the ability to work flexible shifts, including off-shifts. A valid driver's license and MD/DC SPO credentials may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 1-2 years security or law enforcement experience required.
• 1-2 years MedStar service in lieu of security experience required.
• One year of relevant professional-level work may substitute for one year of education.

Responsibilities

• Patrols hospital property and responds to calls for assistance.
• Mentors security staff and conducts training.
• Responds to emergencies and enforces safety procedures.
• Monitors security systems and controls access to facilities.
• Prepares incident reports and maintains records.
