Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Security Officer to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will patrol hospital property, respond to calls, and report conditions that may affect safety per policies and regulations.

Mentors staff, may assume charge roles, and may hold a Maryland or DC SPO commission as needed. The role requires flexibility with scheduling including off shifts in a 24/7 hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to remain calm and thoughtful during a crisis.
• Ability to assist in de-escalating situations with strong emotions.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies to provide assistance to employees and customers.
• Patrols facility as directed and may use a motor vehicle or bicycle.
• Monitor lobbies, waiting areas, elevators and entrances.
• Prepare and submit incident reports and logs; maintain records.
