Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard patients, visitors, staff and hospital property. You will patrol facilities and grounds, monitor for threats, and respond to emergencies while enforcing policies and providing a calming presence.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma, Michigan driver license, and relevant certifications (First Aid, BLS). Preference for related degree or military/Law Enforcement experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 20 years of age with valid Michigan driver license.
• License-Driver's License - STATE_MI (Michigan).
• First Aid certification within 180 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 180 days of hire.
• Prefer Associate's Degree in Public Administration or Criminal Justice and related experience.
• Law Enforcement Academy or Military experience is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highly visible foot and vehicle patrols to deter incidents and ensure safety.
• Document incident information thoroughly and promptly.
• Assist staff, visitors, and patients with directions, escorts, and requests for help.
• Provide access control for secured areas and communicate with care teams.
• Manage conflicts using de‑escalation techniques and safe, appropriate force as needed.
• Respond to and investigate suspicious or emergency situations.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain required licensure and certifications.
