Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC seeks a Security Officer to protect persons and property and to enforce security and safety regulations. You will support emergency response, monitor reporting systems, and assist with investigations.

You will perform post duties, control entry points, supervise parking areas, and engage in patrols to ensure safety across the hospital campus. Prior security experience and a valid NC driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license with clean driving record.
• CPR certification required before end of 12 months of employment.
• Requires one year of previous work experience.
• Proficient in oral and written communication; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively via two-way radio, computer, email, telephone and verbal communications with Hospital Police staff, visitors and patients.
• Assists in emergency responses, patient custody issues and transportation coordination.
• Controls access and screens at Emergency Department entrances; monitors parking lot and posts as needed.
• Completes trespass, intervention and incident reports with detailed narratives.
• Escort staff, patients and visitors to parking areas; document security/safety hazards and conduct patrols.
