Job summary

The Oregon Health Authority seeks a Safety Operations Manager to lead the Safety Department for the state hospital system. This in-office role oversees daily operations, staffing, and safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, CMS, and licensing standards.

Qualifications

  • Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR two years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of occupational and environmental safety principles, hazard identification and control, incident investigation, corrective-action management, and safety program administration.
  • Experience interpreting and applying complex laws, regulations, accreditation standards, policies, and technical guidance to hospital operations.
  • Experience analyzing incidents, hazards, compliance findings, and performance data and developing practical, risk-based recommendations.
  • Effective leadership, communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, including the ability to manage disagreement constructively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations, staff, resources, and safety programs of a multidisciplinary Safety Department team.
  • Plan and assign work, coordinate staffing across campuses, and evaluate program performance.
  • Provide program management and direction for safety programs, including establishing priorities and objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with major regulatory frameworks (OSHA, Joint Commission, CMS, licensing, fire & life safety).
  • Support department-wide operations and continuity of leadership.
