Firelands Health in Sandusky is seeking a dedicated cook to support kitchen operations and room service for patient meals. You will follow menus, prep ingredients, coordinate with the Executive Chef, and ensure timely service while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 30 pounds and be mobile.
• Prior related work in hospital, institution, or restaurant cooking preferred.
• Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with supervisors and coworkers.
• Punctual attendance and reliable performance required.
• Adherence to safety, OSHA and CDC guidelines and use of protective equipment.
• Successful completion of a 90-day probation period.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and production sheets to determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups.
• Plan cooking schedule with Executive Chef to ensure timely food readiness.
• Prepare food by washing, trimming, cooking and seasoning per menus.
• Measure and mix ingredients using kitchen equipment to produce sauces, soups, stews, casseroles, etc.
• Taste and check food quality for consistency with recipes.
• Handle food from storage to ready-to-serve portions for patients.
• Assist with room service setup, break down, and plating within set timeframes.
• Keep cooking area clean and organized; sanitation practices followed.
• Cross-train in all cook positions to meet daily needs.
