Firelands-Health in Sandusky, OH, is seeking a dedicated cook to support our patient meal program. You will review menus, plan cooking schedules, and prepare meals from fresh ingredients according to recipes and production sheets.

Responsibilities include portion control, sanitation, and timely room service The role requires physical fitness, reliable attendance, and prior cooking experience in hospital, institutional, or restaurant settings.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 30 pounds and be mobile.
• Related prior work experience with hospital, institution, or restaurant cooking preferred.
• Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to communicate and understand written and oral communication.
• Ability to effectively work with supervisors and other workers.
• Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
• Ability to work safely and maintain an accident-free workplace, including knowledge of emergency codes.
• Compliance with OSHA regulations and CDC standards.

Responsabilités

• Reviews menus and production sheets to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables and soups to be prepared.
• Plans cooking schedule with Executive Chef to ensure meals are ready on time.
• Prepares food by washing, trimming, cooking and seasoning as per menus and production sheets.
• Measures and mixes ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment to make sauces, soups, stews, casseroles, etc.
• Tests food by tasting, smelling and temperature checks to meet recipe standards.
• Prepares portions for individual servings and distributes food to patients.
• Sets up and breaks down the Room Service line and maintains a clean work area.
• Ensures proper portion size and sanitation throughout meal preparation.
