Qualifications

• Ability to lift 30 pounds and be mobile.
• Prior hospital, institution, or restaurant cooking experience preferred.
• Ability to perform with accuracy and good judgment.
• Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform basic arithmetic.
• Good communication and ability to understand written and oral instructions.
• Punctual attendance and safety-conscious in a healthcare environment.
• Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Reviews menus and production sheets to determine quantities of meats, vegetables and soups to prepare.
• Plans cooking schedule with Executive Chef to ensure meals are ready on time.
• Prepares food by washing, trimming, cooking and seasoning according to recipes.
• Measures and mixes ingredients using utensils and equipment to make sauces, soups, and entrees.
• Tests food by tasting and checking temperature to meet recipe standards.
• Prepares portions for individual servings and distributes food to patients.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly cooking area; cross-trained in all cook positions.
• Prepares reports for usage and leftover food.
