Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, part of the Tufts Medicine system, seeks a Public Safety Officer to protect hospital assets, people, and information. You will patrol campuses, respond to incidents, and document all safety events under supervision, with a focus on professional customer service and de-escalation.

You will work 40 hours weekly on the evening shift (3pm-11:30pm) including every other weekend and holidays. Qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid MA driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security Officer certification within 1 year of hire.
• Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic public safety and security duties.
• Conduct internal and external patrols of facilities and grounds.
• Respond to and report on routine and emergency calls, alarms, and restraints.
• Provide escorts to patients, visitors, staff and others.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and take corrective action with other departments.
• Complete accurate incident reports for events on hospital property.
• Maintain identification badges and grant access to authorized personnel.
• Assist with emergencies and disasters as directed by supervisors.
