Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Power Plant Stationary Engineer for the night shift to support hospital operations. You will oversee boilers, chillers, control air systems, and related equipment, performing preventive maintenance and quick repairs to ensure reliable service.

The role requires a City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License, 1–2 years of related experience, and a high school diploma or GED. This is a union position with Local 399 benefits and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Valid City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License.
• Thorough knowledge of steam generation and refrigeration.
• 1–2 years position-related experience.
• Five years hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and takes corrective action.
• Servicing and repairing hospital utility and equipment systems.
• Repairs or fabricates equipment as required.
• Performs preventative maintenance per schedule and updates tasks.
• Responds to service requests with problem assessment and documentation.
• Inspects, repairs, and maintains hospital utility systems and components.
• Assists with snow/ice removal and moves supplies/equipment.
• Responds to fire alarms and other emergencies.
• Works with outside contractors on equipment/projects.
