Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Plant Engineer for evening shifts at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. You will operate and maintain boilers, chillers, HVAC, and critical support systems to ensure a safe, comfortable healthcare environment.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and 1–2 years in steam plant operations and HVAC, with a Third Grade Engineer license preferred at assigned facilities. Strong communication and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years steam plant operations experience required.
• 1–2 years HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) experience required.
• 1–2 years troubleshooting equipment in mechanical or electrical fields preferred.
• 1 year hospital plant operations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, water treatment systems and testing, medical air and vacuum systems, medical gases, compressors, and refrigeration systems per policies to ensure a safe healthcare environment.
• Operates Emergency Generator and Transfer Switch System per Joint Commission Standards to ensure essential electrical function during emergencies and outages.
• Operates HVAC systems, building automation systems, refrigeration monitoring systems for patient care and comfort.
• Performs scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs of environmental control equipment and patient care systems.
• Performs and documents equipment inspection rounds to ensure data for maintenance control.
• Performs water testing and treatment to meet established requirements.
• Maintains inventory of parts and supplies for maintenance efficiency.
• Monitors and documents all work tasks for maintenance control.
• Establishes good working relations with staff, patients, supervisors, vendors, and contractors.
