Job summary

Cardinal Health seeks a PRN Pharmacy Technician to support Health Systems Pharmacy at AMG Specialty Hospital - Houston Med Center. You will assist pharmacists, fill prescriptions, manage inventory, and interact with patients and providers in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and teamwork; prior inpatient hospital experience and required licenses are highlighted. Hours cover Monday–Friday and weekends, with a flexible PRN schedule.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent preferred.
• State Pharmacy Technician license/registration required.
• National pharmacy technician certification if applicable.
• ACPE IV certification required.
• In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred.
• Flexibility in working schedule.
• Ability to work in a group.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Strong customer service skills required.
• Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks.
• Ability to manage several tasks at the same time and focus on tasks.
• Ability to evaluate operating conditions and exercise sound judgment.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smartphones and tablets.
• May require vendor credentialing.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
• Prepares medication for dispensing, packaging and shipment.
• Maintains inventory, checks in drugs and supplies, and stocks shelves.
• Enters medical supply orders in the pharmacy system.
• Communicates with customers (patients, clinics, caregivers, physicians) professionally.
• Processes returned medications for credit or destruction.
• Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
