Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application (IDFPR).
• Certified Pharmacy Technician not required for student pharmacist or those licensed before 1/1/2008.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician within 2 years of license issue date (IL).
• 1 year of retail pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient information accurately into the pharmacy computer system, including address, phone number, allergies and date of birth.
• Enter correct medication information including medications, strength, route, refills, and physician name.
• Prioritize work to input stat and waiting prescriptions in order of importance.
• Maintain order entry error rate <5% and serious order entry error rate <1%.
• Fill orders with correct medication in a timely manner and verify NDC numbers.
• Have pharmacist check all work before dispensing and inform on workload status.
• Return medications to stock and reorder as needed; manage inventory for cash flow.
• Assure patient counseling by a pharmacist; document transactions correctly.
• Assist in training new staff and support other areas as needed; perform end-of-day procedures.
