Job summary

Avera Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician in Training to join our team at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. This entry-level role supports pharmacist operations, learns to prepare medications, and advances toward PTCB certification.

You're expected to participate in the Education Program, complete certification, and commit to a two-year employment post-program. Work under pharmacist supervision in a team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician in Training registered with SD Board of Pharmacy within 30 days
• Certified Pharmacy Technician Board Certification or approved training/certification program

Responsibilities

• Under Pharmacist supervision, inputs and/or prepares labels and packages inpatient or outpatient medication orders and prescriptions to maintain an efficient, accurate delivery system
• Participates in Avera Pharmacy Technician Education Program to prepare for certification
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications, calculations, regulation, PPE, and patient safety
• Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, customers, co-workers, supervisor and committees to promote patient safety
• Performs clerical functions such as billing and inventory procedures
