Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician at the Lake Norman pharmacy department. The role supports pharmacists with medication preparation, labeling, and distribution, including hazardous and controlled substances, with rotating shifts and 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities include data entry, inventory control, immunization support, and adherence to USP standards. Must obtain CPhT or ExCPT within 18 months; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements.
• Must receive CPhT or ExCPT certification within 18 months from start date.
• No work experience required; hospital pharmacy experience and CPhT certification preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen phone calls and route as needed using proper telephone etiquette.
• Assist in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Complete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards.
• Perform sterile IV admixture as defined at the entity level using aseptic technique.
• Inspect medication storage areas for compliance with storage policies.
• Document medication admission histories and data entry into the pharmacy system.
• Seek additional duties when required and accept other duties as assigned.
• May participate in quality improvement initiatives and training of technicians.
• Adhere to organization policies, procedures, and legal/regulatory standards.
