Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Union Pharmacy team in a full-time capacity. The role involves assisting pharmacists with preparation and distribution of medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, with responsibilities spanning inventory management and patient data entry.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, state licensure, and within 18 months certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ExCPT). Weekend rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or ExCPT within 18 months from start date
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
• No work experience required; preferred hospital pharmacy and sterile compounding experience

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications
• Select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control
• Screen calls and route using proper etiquette
• Perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture per USP standards where applicable
• Record patient demographics and input data into pharmacy system for billing and records
• Assist in training technicians and extenders as needed
• Ensure compliance with organization policies and regulatory standards
