Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications at our Milwaukee facility. The role includes labeling, patient checking, third‑party billing readiness, and maintaining accurate records.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, is certified or will obtain certification within 18 months, and can work 40 hours with a 1st shift schedule. Training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work with multiple departments and matrix structures.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to work with limited guidance.
• Effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assists with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screens calls and routes them using proper phone etiquette.
• Maintains documentation for removal, stocking and wasting of controlled substances.
• Performs nonsterile compounding per USP standards and sterile IV admixture where applicable.
• Inspects storage areas for policy adherence and completes patient admission histories as applicable.
• May train pharmacy technicians and extenders; supports leaders with goals and work assignments.
