Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a pharmacy technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining inventory and supplies, receiving, sorting, and stocking medications and supplies. Bills and credits medications to patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; College preferred.
• 1 year hospital tech experience; 2 years preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• CPhT and Texas Registered required; IV Certified preferred.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares IV mixtures according to established procedures.
• Picks up orders and medications for return from patient care areas.
• Checks areas of responsibility for outdated medications and stock levels.
• Maintains good working relationships with other departments.
• Fills patient medication drawers and unit dose orders.
• Fills automated dispensing machines and other unit supplies.
• Makes deliveries to patient care areas.
• Enters charges and credits.
• Unpacks and stocks orders.
• Prepackages bulk medication to unit dose or IV bulk products to syringes.
• Communicates effectively with coworkers to ensure understanding of customer needs.
• Frequently offers assistance to others in need.
• Participates in team meetings and suggests service improvements.
