Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Pharmacy Technician II at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. Under the pharmacist, you will perform day-to-day pharmacy technician tasks in a complex medical environment, including unit-dose dispensing and sterile compounding.

You will collaborate with care teams to ensure accurate medication dispensing, handle prescriptions from EMR, and support training for new staff while working a rotating day/evening schedule with potential night shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year pharmacy technician experience in a complex environment.
• MN Pharmacy Technician registration current or pending.
• National certification (PTCB or ExCPT) within 1.5 years.

Responsibilities

• Partner with care providers and pharmacists to ensure patients receive the needed medication accurately and safely.
• Receive prescriptions from EMR, process manually or via the computer system, and dispense as required.
• Maintain IV hoods/isolators, clean room, and ante room per specs and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate ordering and delivery of medications, supplies, and equipment to patients and clinical areas.
• Participate in regulatory, quality assurance, and process improvement activities and projects.
• Support training of new trainees.
