Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician 2 to support patient care across UCSF Health locations in the San Francisco area. The role focuses on medication preparation, distribution, inventory management and collaboration with nursing and medical teams.

Qualified candidates will have a California-licensed Pharmacy Technician, completion of an accredited program, and at least two years of hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
• Minimum of two years as Pharmacy Technician in hospitals or healthcare setting.
• Flexible to work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient medication orders including unit dose, cartfill, compounded medications and chemotherapy orders.
• Ensure accuracy and safety of medication preparations.
• Coordinate delivery and refill of medications to patient units and automated cabinets.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy automation and electronic health records.
• Oversee inventory management, cycle counts and stock levels.
• Maintain drug inventory records and control substance records.
• Report discrepancies to nursing staff and pharmacist in charge.
• Provide pharmaceutical care and collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other clinicians.
• Triages issues from providers via calls and messages; assist at a pharmacist window.
• Train pharmacy learners and support competency development.
