Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore is seeking a PBX Operator to manage incoming calls, transfer callers, and relay messages for physicians with fast, accurate handling. You will also support paging, paging devices, and life-safety communications, ensuring reliable coverage across the campus.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and preferred two years of switchboard experience, plus solid PC skills for daily operations in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Must possess computer/PC skills; general word processing and keyboard skills, including PC mouse, are required.
• Prefer two years of switchboard experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls directed to the Mercy Operator within 3 rings and transfer callers to the correct destination.
• Take and relay messages for physicians, including digital and/or alpha paging.
• Monitor alarms and life safety codes; support emergency plans and overhead paging services.
• Assist with provisioning and replacement of pagers; demonstrate safe use of department hardware and software.
