Job summary

UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a per diem Patient Transporter to move patients between nursing units and to and from diagnostic areas. The role also supports a clean, stocked work area and reports equipment issues to supervision.

Hours are 8-hour shifts, with a 4.00 standard weekly commitment. The position requires basic reading/writing ability and a BLS certification within 30 days of hire; no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within thirty days of hire.
• No prior healthcare experience required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

Responsibilities

• Assists health professionals as appropriate to assigned work area.
• Ensures that medical equipment necessary for patient transport is clean, functional and operational. Reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Helps maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Procures, processes, and/or delivers equipment, supplies, nourishments, and other resources to the assigned area on a routine basis and during emergency situations.
• Transports patients to other nursing units, to diagnostic and treatment areas, and for discharge from the Hospitals.
