Job summary

UNC Health in Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, seeks a dedicated Patient Transporter for per diem shifts. You will move patients between nursing units and diagnostic areas, maintain a clean work area, and support clinical staff under supervision.

Position is per diem with 8-hour shifts; standard weekly hours are 4.00. No prior experience required; Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Education: None required.
• Licensure/Certification: BLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists health professionals as appropriate to assigned work area.
• Ensures medical equipment for patient transport is clean, functional and operational; reports malfunctions.
• Helps maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Procures, processes, and delivers equipment, supplies, nourishments, and other resources to the assigned area on a routine basis and during emergencies.
• Transports patients to other nursing units, to diagnostic and treatment areas, and for discharge from the hospital.
