Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Transport Associate to move patients and materials across The Miriam Hospital campus in Providence, RI. You will transport patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher and assist clinical staff in transfers, prioritizing safety and patient comfort.

Work hours are 8-hour day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. The role requires good English, basic math, and the ability to follow directions in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions in English.
• Education level normally attained in secondary school.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform essential duties.
• Demonstrate knowledge, and ability to identify patients by name on bracelets, pager and ticket to ride.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and materials within the hospital, and to/from outside facilities.
• Transport patients via wheelchair, bed or stretcher to and from clinical areas.
• Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients between beds, chairs, wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Support department areas as directed by the dispatcher.
• Collects and signs off specimens, cultures, orders, and requisitions, and delivers items to destinations.
