Job summary

Compass Group is hiring a full-time Patient Transporter Lead in Indianapolis, IN to oversee daily patient transport operations, coordinate staff, and ensure safety and efficiency in moving patients and equipment. The role requires prior related experience and offers varied shifts, including 1st and 3rd shifts with rotating weekends.

The incumbent will direct a team of transporters, train staff, communicate with nursing and clinical teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Requirement: Previous related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily work of other patient transporters and reports inadequate performance to Supervisor.
• Trains new and existing employees; updates personnel files. Follows up on complaints and reports them to the Supervisor.
• Evaluates work requirements and assignments; ensures efficient use of employees and distribution of work load.
• Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age-groups.
• Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination; brings the proper requested equipment.
• Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch.
• Ensures patient comfort by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. Never transports patients in severe pain.
• Immediately alerts nursing staff to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
• Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs.
• Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO.
• Adheres to facility confidentiality and patients rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPPA policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
