Job summary

Indiana University Health, Inc. is seeking a hospital transporter to move patients and supplies within IU Health University Hospital.

The role requires identifying patients with two identifiers, coordinating with care teams, and ensuring safe handoffs at origin and destination. The transporter will disconnect and reconnect oxygen equipment, monitor oxygen levels, and assist with moving patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair, while maintaining safety and confidentiality as part of daily

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Training in oxygen equipment and infection control policies.
• Ability to follow oxygen transport policies and monitor tank levels.
• Frequent standing and long walks.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and bend/twist when handling weight.
• Daily use of repetitive motions and dexterity.
• Basic patient lifting technique training.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and items safely within the hospital.
• Identify patients using two identifiers before transport.
• Ensure safe handoffs with caregivers at origin/destination.
• Communicate with care teams during patient movement.
• Disconnect/reconnect oxygen as needed in patient rooms.
• Monitor oxygen levels in tanks to safeguard patient safety.
• Properly store beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and related equipment.
