Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate in Tacoma, WA, on a full-time, onsite schedule (Mon-Fri 8:30AM-5:00PM). The role focuses on connecting uninsured hospital patients to Medicaid and other programs, guiding them through applications and ensuring timely follow-up and bedside screening.

You will document thoroughly, collaborate with hospital staff, and maintain daily queues while providing exceptional service and upholding HIPAA/PHI requirements.

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Adaptability when dealing with constantly changing processes, computer systems and government programs.
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients' rooms throughout scheduled work shift.
• Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
• Effectively communicate both orally and written, to a variety of individuals.
• Ability to multitask to meet performance metrics while functioning in a fast-paced environment.
• Hospital-Based Patient Advocates are expected to dress in accordance with their respective Client's Dress Code.
• Hybrid positions require home internet connections that meet the Company's upload and download speed criteria. Hybrid employees working from home are expected to comply with Elevate's Remote Work Policy, including but not limited to working in a private and dedicated workspace where confidential information can be shared in accordance with HIPAA and PHI requirements.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county programs.
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
• Document accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems on all cases.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Answer calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork for enrollment/renewal for Medicaid patients.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone when possible.
• Assist applicants with gathering additional reports or records and arranging appointments/transportation as needed.
• Conduct in-person community visits to obtain documentation.
• Inform clients of approvals/denials of coverage in a timely manner.
• Attend ongoing required training to stay informed about rules and regulations.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
