Hospital Maintenance Technician III (Days)

Overview

We are seeking a Hospital Maintenance Technician III, also known as a Plant Operations Technician III or Boiler Operator III. This role involves performing advanced maintenance and repairs on hospital systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment to ensure a safe healthcare environment. The technician supports emergency response, preventive maintenance, and facility projects, coordinating with staff and contractors to minimize disruptions.

Shift and Employment Details

• Shift: Days (No Weekends)
• Type: Full Time
• Hours: 8-hour shifts, 7:00am to 3:30pm
• Location: Southern Regional Medical Center, Riverdale, GA

Responsibilities

• If licensed as a Boiler Operator with high-pressure steam or as a 1st Class Stationary Engineer, you are encouraged to apply.
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, medical gas, and other systems.
• Respond promptly to emergency repairs to restore hospital operations without affecting patient care.
• Inspect and test safety systems such as backup generators, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and safety equipment for functionality and compliance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance during regular inspections, such as lubricating motors and checking generators.
• Assist with hospital renovation and construction projects, coordinating with contractors.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver’s license
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to troubleshoot, read schematics, blueprints
• Certification/license in relevant healthcare engineering trade (e.g., Steam boiler, HVAC)

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) years experience in an acute healthcare setting
