Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center is seeking a Maintenance Worker II to support a wide range of tasks across the campus, ensuring a safe, functional and efficient environment. Responsibilities include performing skilled maintenance, locksmith duties, and coordinating with contractors while using tools and managing work orders.

The role requires blueprint literacy, MECH certification within a year, a valid Iowa driver’s license, and the ability to work in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand basic blueprints.
• MECH certification from the American Hospital Association within one year of hire.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license.
• Full-time employee in good standing with no recent disciplinary actions.
• Ability to read blueprints and meet the departmental work schedule.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, customers, visitors and management.
• Ability to serve as an Emergency Management Response Team member.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, extreme weather, snow).

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret basic blueprints and project information for assigned work.
• Perform skilled maintenance and repair of hospital buildings (locksmith, carpentry, etc.).
• Operate hand and power tools, ladders, lifts and vehicles safely.
• Assist with other Plant Operations maintenance, mechanical, and construction tasks.
• Utilize maintenance management system to track work and communicate updates.
• Prepare work areas, coordinate with contractors, and manage supplies.
• Ensure work meets quality and safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Attend departmental meetings and support Emergency Preparedness initiatives.
