Job summary

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking a skilled Locksmith to install, repair, and rebuild locks and security devices at Camp Dodge. You will maintain and troubleshoot electronic lock systems, card access, and security cameras, while keeping meticulous records of keys and combinations.

This position requires three years of locksmithing experience or an approved education substitute, a valid Iowa driver’s license, and the ability to pass a background check. Weekend assignments may occur.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in skilled locksmithing work.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable if locksmithing course completed.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble malfunctioning locks and rebuild or replace components.
• Clean and lubricate locking mechanisms to extend life.
• Create new or duplicate keys and manage key codes or tracing methods.
• Pick locks to access secured areas when keys are unavailable.
• Change safe and lock combinations as requested for security.
• Maintain records of keys issued, combinations, and inventory.
• Install and troubleshoot electronic lock systems and card access readers.
• Troubleshoot security cameras and related alarm/spatial systems.
