Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• One year of experience in maternal/infant health; inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Must obtain IBCLC certification within 18 months of hire or reclassification.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates initiation and continuation of breastfeeding through one-on-one evaluation and guidance.
• Provides education on breastfeeding, breast care and related topics to patients and families.
• Assists with interventions for common short-term breastfeeding problems.
• Teaches breastfeeding, childbirth preparation and postpartum discharge classes.
• Acts as a clinical resource to staff on breastfeeding issues; collaborates with teams to resolve problems.
• Maintains accurate documentation and continues education in lactation.
