Job summary

Gallatin Nursing & Rehab is seeking a cook to manage the kitchen and operate in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. The role requires safe, sanitary meal preparation and the ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.

Responsibilities include following prepared menus and portion control guides, recording temperatures, and assisting with meal service while coordinating with staff across departments. Requires a high school diploma and ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Should have experience as a cook in a hospital or long term care facility for not less than one year.
• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
• Ability to present information clearly to managers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals in large quantities and follow menus.
• Record food temperatures and prepare pureed foods as required.
• Assist with serving meals and cleaning cooking areas and carts.
• Report resident care concerns to Administrator or Director of Nurses and participate in staff training.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
• Ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
