Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a dedicated cook to prepare meals for patients, staff and visitors in a fast-paced kitchen. You will follow established recipes, manage portions, and uphold strict sanitation and safety standards.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and one year of cooking experience. You will work with a team on meal setup, line service, and joint efforts to minimize waste while ensuring patient satisfaction. 40 hours weekly, non-exempt, United States.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and read standardized recipes.
• Must have basic math skills including addition and subtraction.
• Must have working knowledge of table of measure.
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexibility to work holidays and adapt to schedule changes.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes all work areas for food production.
• Sets up bars and lines.
• Restocks, cleans and straightens as necessary.
• Gathers ingredients efficiently according to recipe, checks coolers for leftovers.
• Follows menu cycle, portions and standardized recipes; uses leftovers with FIFO.
• Stores, labels, and dates leftovers; follows cooling rules.
• Serves customers with attention to service quality.
• Addresses customer complaints professionally.
• Documents temperatures and ensures equipment works; reports malfunctions.
• Ensures plates are hot, garnished, and meet dietary restrictions; presents appealing plates.
• Keeps area clean; communicates with servers about portions and prep needs.
• Ensures sanitation and safety compliance per Health Department rules.
