Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Cook to support high-volume food service for patients, staff, and visitors. You will prepare hot and cold dishes, follow recipes, and garnish/pack meals while upholding HACCP guidelines and HM standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining food safety records, communicating with the team, and assisting in other nutrition service areas as needed. A Food Handlers Permit is required in Texas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of food service/cooking experience.
• Food handlers permit approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TXDSHS) or ANSI.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold foods according to standardized recipes and timelines.
• Ensure food safety, quality, and proper portioning.
• Garnish and package prepared foods for service and catering events.
• Communicate with team and management about shortages, spoilage, or menu changes.
