Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Cook to support high-volume food service for patients, staff and visitors. You will prepare hot and cold items, follow recipes, garnish and package meals while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will work with Sr Cook and Catering staff to ensure on-time, high-quality meals, monitor temperatures, and keep production records in line with HACCP guidelines. The role requires attention to safety, sanitation, and customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; preferred
• One year of food service/cooking experience
• Food Handlers Permit required (TXDSHS or ANSI)

Responsibilities

• Prepares hot and cold foods according to recipes and schedule.
• Tastes food for palatability prior to service.
• Reviews menus in advance to ensure supplies are in-house and prepared for next day menus.
• Portions food according to diet and recipe; garnish as instructed.
