Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Food Service Worker to perform a variety of basic duties in patient meal service and cafeteria operations, contributing to high-quality food and service. The role includes tray assembly, dish room, utilities, and retail dining, with shifts that may include evenings and weekends to meet patient and customer needs.

Applicants must obtain a Food Service Worker Permit from the Monongalia County Health Department and be available for on-site work

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) prior to starting or obtain a MCHD Temporary FSWP no later than the first Wednesday of employment and a permanent MCHD FSWP within 1 month of start date; continue to hold FSWP throughout employment.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Shift varies with the main shift of 8p to 6:30a; 4–10 hour shifts per week; rotating holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all work areas for operation, per task assignment.
• Fills bucket with sanitizing solution and maintains sanitizer strength throughout shift.
• Set-up, restocks, clean and organizes assigned area; maintain a clean, organized appearance.
• Gathers utensils based on correct portions.
• Produces and maintains quality food and beverage products.
• Prepares attractive and appetizing foods utilizing quality ingredients.
• Prepares timely products, fresh throughout service and not in excess.
• Utilizes leftovers using FIFO method.
• Follows menu cycle and utilizes standardized recipes.
• Remains focused on customer service and provides quality service.
• Greets customers, politely takes orders and serves efficiently.
• Addresses customer complaints professionally and seeks management when needed.
• Removes trash promptly; cleans spills and posts caution signage.
• Cleans and sanitizes work surfaces; stores and labels items properly.
