Job summary

St. Bernardine Medical Center is seeking a Central Services Technician to ensure the safe operation of sterile processing, autoclave units, and related equipment. You will monitor and document sterilization processes, insuring compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

High School Graduate or GED
One year experience as a Central Service or Surgical Instrument Technician OR a combination of six months experience and enrollment in a CRCST or Surgical Instrument Tech course

Responsibilities

Insures proper operation of autoclave units prior to use on a daily basis.
Runs, monitors and approves biological and chemical tests at beginning, middles and end of shift. Follows through with the monitoring process, until the termination of the biological incubation period.
Monitors and approves Bowie-Dick test and Sterilizer Printcons. Records results in appropriate log.
Inspects STERRAD, Gas and Steam Autoclaves for visible signs of malfunction and reports to Central Service Manager.
Records accurately at the end of the shift the number of sterilized loads and items that have been sterilized
