Job summary

MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist clinical pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications while maintaining drug inventory and patient records. This role operates under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in a hospital setting serving neonatal to geriatric patients.

Eligible candidates will have a National Pharmacy Technician Certification, Iowa registration, and 1–3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
• Must be registered with the State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy before commencing employment.
• One to three years of previous pharmacy experience (or combination college and experience) is preferred.
• Must be able to type accurately, have basic knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations.
• Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are useful in preparing or assisting with orders.
• Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment.

Responsibilities

• Procure and distribute medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies.
• Enhance the quality of care of delivery of care and effective operation of the department.
• Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
