Job summary

You will work with the HVAC II technician, troubleshoot equipment, and coordinate with vendors on large projects.

Qualifications

• Implement standard preventive maintenance for HVAC systems and related electrical systems.
• Lubricate machinery and equipment effectively.
• Maintain small hand and power tools.
• Follow safety practices and procedures for HVAC and electrical systems installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Utilize terminology, coding, symbols, and standard abbreviations for HVAC systems.
• Apply techniques for HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Perform pipe threading methods.
• Operate heating, refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning machinery.
• Manage electrical, electronic, and pneumatic HVAC control systems.
• Understand and apply laws, rules, and regulations governing Facilities Department activities.
• Read and interpret specifications, operation manuals, and blueprints.
• Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Substitutions: certificate or diploma in refrigeration/heating may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Installs HVAC equipment and connects components.
• Checks equipment for leaks and proper operation.
• Maintains and repairs systems, including filters and wiring.
• Calculates heat loads and treats water systems.
• Assembles ducts and chassis parts for HVAC systems.
• Maintains distribution of heat and air conditioning throughout facility.
• Maintains ice machines in wards and operating areas.
• Maintains ventilation and exhaust systems.
• Repairs steam traps.
