Job summary

St Mary's Health Care System, part of Trinity Health, seeks a maintenance technician focused on HVAC/R systems. The role requires basic knowledge of building systems, hand tools proficiency, and strong customer service when assisting hospital staff.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with HVAC/R training preferred. A minimum of two years in maintenance is expected, with willingness to rotate weekends and on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associate degree in HVAC/R preferred.
• Minimum of two years of maintenance experience; knowledge of building systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fixtures (lighting, doors, plumbing, HVAC filters).
• Respond to basic maintenance requests from clinical and non-clinical departments in a timely manner.
• Assist senior mechanics with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical support system repairs.
• Conduct minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, repairing fixtures, tightening hardware, and patching surfaces.
• Inspect equipment and facilities to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs.
• Document all work in the hospital’s maintenance management system.
• Follow hospital safety protocols including PPE use and regulatory compliance.
• Support emergency response during outages or incidents.
• Maintain tools and work areas in clean, safe condition.
